Performativity and post-humanist traditions (ANT, STS)

Instructor(s)

Dr. Léna Pellandini-Simanyi

This course of the doctoral school introduces participants to approaches that place a central role on objects and non-human entities in the making of economic life: economic performativity, Science and Technology Studies (STS) and Actor-Network Theory (ANT), drawing on the work of Callon and Latour, among others. As such, they provide yet again a different take on where to locate ‘culture’, how to study it and to the old question of structure and agency. The course will cover classic texts of the tradition and will look at how these approaches have been developed in management (performativity and socio-material approaches to organizations) and marketing scholarship (e.g., current theorizations of digital consumption, subcultures and segmentation).

The full course description will be shared shortly.
