Start date: 19 August 2024

End date: 24 August 2024

In the 33rd edition of the SSPH+ Lugano Summer School in Public Health Policy, Economics, and Management (LSS), practitioners, researchers, and graduate students will come together from all over the world for a unique learning experience focused on public health impact. The seasonal school is a long-term collaboration between the Swiss School of Public Health (SSPH+), USI, SUPSI, and Swiss TPH and places health, disease, and health systems thinking under one common framework of coherent concepts and practical implications. The education obtained and networks created serve as an opportunity to reduce and prevent the gap between public health theory and practice.

From 19 to 24 August 2024, the 33rd edition offers:

  • 16 courses in online, hybrid, and on-site formats. Each highly interactive course focuses on mutual learning for change and uses an active and engaged teaching style to help participants reflect on, develop, and expand transformational ideas. Courses are led by facilitators with experience in diverse settings from high-, middle-, and low-income countries.
  • 2 plenaries, with keynotes by Prof. Martin McKee (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine), Prof. Antoine Flahault (Uni GVA and SSPH+) and Dr. Nathalie Jean-Baptiste (Julius Baer Foundation) focus on the challenges and opportunities of health systems and global public health, including wealth inequalities and social mobility, disease prevention, and health policy. The plenaries take place in hybrid format and are free and open to the public (zoom link available on our website).
  • Several networking events, including our annual film festival, provide additional opportunities to continue learning and exchanging outside the classroom, create new connections, and strengthen ongoing relationships.

Information about the programme, participation modalities, facilitators, fees, and registration details are available on our website: https://www.ssph-lugano-summerschool.ch/enroll.
