The conference "The Future of Survival Public Event: AI and Generative humanity," scheduled for Tuesday, August 13 at 6 p.m. at the Locarno Film Festival Basecamp, is the first of three events open to the public as part of the USI Cinema and Audiovisual Futures Conference 2024.

It will feature Paul Trillo as the keynote speaker, in conversation with Miriam de Rosa of the C'a foscari University of Venice and Richard Misek of the University of Bergen.

Paul Trillo has established himself as a leading creator and innovator in the field of audiovisual generative AI. His videos are celebrated for pushing the limits of the visual imagination. He was recently selected among a handful of artists to gain early access to Sora, the text-to-video generator from OpenAI set to launch in 2024. Text-to-video generation signals a new era in audiovisual creation, allowing a greater number of people to realize and share their visions.

What impact will this new era of videos have on journalism, social perceptions of reality, and our understanding of humanity? Trillo will share his observations from his hands-on experiences, offer key practical insights for those still learning about generative AI, and preview his newest work, "The Golden Record," an exploration of human history and civilization through the lens of the algorithm.

The scheduled start time of the event is not final and may still be subject to change.
