Lena Pellandini-Simányi, Associate Professor at the Institute of Marketing and Communication Management of the Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society at USI, has been appointed as coordinator of the “Finance and Society Network” of the Society of the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE). SASE was founded by Amitai Etzioni in 1989 and is one of the biggest organizations dedicated to interdisciplinary study of the economy, spanning economic sociology, political economy, economics and organization studies, with members in over 50 countries. It consists of ‘networks’, subdivisions focused on different topics.

Prof. Pellandini-Simanyi has been appointed as coordinator of the “Finance and Society Network”, joining Megan Doherty Bea (University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA), Simone Polillo (University of Virginia, USA) and Daniel Maman (Ben Gurion University, Israel). The network promotes cross-disciplinary research on finance, focusing on topics such as the social embeddedness of finance, historic origins of modern financial instruments, regional differences in financial markets, indebtedness and inequality. Prof. Pellandini-Simányi’s appointment to the network follows her research on the social and cultural influences on everyday financial decisions, on institutions’ financial predictions and on the emergence of new financial markets.
