The IBSA Foundation Fellowships awarding ceremony took place on 7 October for students in the Master of Medicine programme at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, Università della Svizzera italiana (USI). A total of 113 scholarships were awarded, with 62 going to first-year students and 51 to second-year students. Since 2017, the IBSA Foundation has been investing in the research and talent of future doctors, supporting their studies at USI.
The Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Giovanni Pedrazzini, welcomed the large and young audience of students. He explained the criteria for the Fellowships and detailed how they are granted. He also emphasised that the Fellowships awarded by the Foundation represent an excellent opportunity for students and an important tool for attracting talent from different countries, encouraging them to study medicine in the Canton of Ticino.
"Studying medicine means preparing to be the doctors of the future. Today's students represent the foundations on which tomorrow's medicine will be built. For IBSA Foundation, it is essential to support these young talents because in them lies the potential for a better future for all health". This statement was given to the students by the IBSA Group President and CEO, Arturo Licenziati, to underline the commitment to contribute, as in the case of the Foundation, which is on the front line in encouraging academic study supporting university students.
Also present at the ceremony were USI Rector Luisa Lambertini, IBSA Foundation Director Silvia Misiti and IBSA Group Vice President Antonio Melli.
The event concluded with a moment of exchange and direct contact with the students.
