Mirko Pasquini, Ph.D. and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Medical Humanities (CMH) at Uppsala University, presented his work on attention economies and urgency in an Emergency Room (ER). His work explores how urgency is constantly constructed through interactions between patients and ER professionals as well as influenced by materiality. Through his fieldwork, attention emerged as a major theme: Pasquini considers attention as being entirely part of ER resources, the crucial capital influencing the dynamic construction and emergence of urgency in practice.
