To help current students and recent graduates navigate the world of work, several USI Alumni shared their career paths and career story. Here the story of Darko Stanoevski, CEO at Talnets AG in Lucerne (CH). USI Degree: Master in Marketing, 2010.

How did you start your career?

I began my career in corporate banking at Credit Suisse, where I gained valuable experience in financial analysis, risk assessment, and client relationship management. However, I soon felt a strong desire to pursue an entrepreneurial path. The fast-paced environment and the opportunity to innovate and create something new appealed to me greatly. So, I made the bold decision to transition into entrepreneurship, leveraging the skills and knowledge I acquired in banking to embark on a new journey of building and growing my own ventures. This shift marked the beginning of an exciting and fulfilling chapter in my professional life, where I could fully explore my passion for innovation and business development.

Why did you founded Talnets AG?

I founded Talnets AG because of my deep passion for sports and my firm belief in the transformative power of technology within this industry. Combining my love for sports with my enthusiasm for technological innovation, I saw an opportunity to make a significant impact and drive positive change. This alignment of my personal passion with my entrepreneurial vision inspired me to take the leap and build a company dedicated to reshaping the future of sports through innovation and technology.

What is your current role/duties?

As the CEO of our company, I hold the crucial responsibility of steering our vision and strategy towards success. My role involves providing strong leadership, setting clear goals, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration within the organization. I oversee all aspects of the company's operations, from guiding product development and market expansion to managing financial performance and fostering partnerships. Additionally, I prioritize building and nurturing relationships with stakeholders, including investors, customers, and employees, to ensure alignment and drive sustainable growth. Through effective decisionmaking and strategic planning, I work tirelessly to propel our company forward and realize our mission of making a meaningful impact in the sports industry.

In your opinion, what are the qualities necessary for a successful career in Talnets AG?

Every role within our organization is vital and contributes uniquely to its overall success. Across all roles, a deep commitment to driving change, an innovative mindset, a strong sense of teamwork, and agility are commonalities that unite the team towards achieving common goals. These shared values create a cohesive culture where each individual's contributions are valued and where collaboration thrives. By embracing these commonalities, the team can adapt to challenges, seize opportunities, and collectively drive the organization forward towards success.

What positive aspects and qualities meant most to you during the study programme you attended?

During my studies, I valued gaining practical business experience, honing teamwork skills, and embracing diversity in an international setting. These experiences enriched my understanding of real-world dynamics, enhanced collaboration abilities, and fostered an open-minded approach in professional as well as personal life.

What is your advice to USI students entering the job market?

For students entering the job market, I believe it's essential to prioritize humility, a willingness to learn, openness to new ideas, mentorship, and alignment with a company's values. These qualities not only foster personal growth and professional development but also contribute to a fulfilling career journey.
