The Agora program attempts to promote communication between society and scientists. It motivates scientists to explain their recent findings to a general audience. Agora projects start a direct conversation in which researchers and the general public engage and exchange ideas.
Eligibility
Applicants must be employed at least 20% at a Swiss higher education or research institution.
The SNSF advises involving a communication expert from outside the university. The SNSF has observed that integrating communication specialists into Agora projects improves their quality.
Funding and duration
SNSF Agora awards grants from CHF 5’000 to CHF 200'000 for small communication formats or larger-scale initiatives, for up to 3 years.
Projects with a budget between CHF 5'000 and CHF 50'000 can also be submitted all year round.
Eligible costs
- Costs for the development and realisation of the project (e.g. personnel, fees, materials, production costs, project management, project partner costs);
- Advertising and distribution costs;
- Subcontracting;
- Costs for the publication and communication of the product resulting from the project
