Health, well-being and international sustainable development

Institutional Communication Service

Date: 16 November 2019 / 09:30 - 16:00

Campus Lugano, Via Buffi 13, Lugano

Symposium FOSIT 2019 (held in Italian)
In collaboration with the
Master of Advanced Studies in Intercultural Communication (USI MIC)

One of the major challenges of sustainable development is Goal 3 of the 2030 United Nations Agenda 2030, to which Switzerland is committed at the local and international level: "To ensure a healthy life and to promote the well-being of all at all ages".

Everyone shares the principle, but do we also agree on responsibilities, means and priorities? Conflicts, global epidemics, inequalities: to be effective, all the actors must be involved. Health is not only improved by the quality of health care, but also by paying attention to lifestyles, air pollution and water quality.

Do international development cooperation and humanitarian aid contribute to Goal 3? Are we focusing on the right priorities in a rapidly changing world? What good practices can inspire us?

The 8th FOSIT Symposium - Federation of NGOs of Southern Switzerland - will take a critical and constructive look at the complexity of international development cooperation in the field of health, with 4,000 days to go before Agenda 2030 expires.
