Valais writer and journalist Sarah Jollien-Fardel won the eighth Choix Goncourt de la Suisse with her novel "Sa préférée" about domestic violence. The name of the literary prize winner was announced Tuesday, 8 November, at La Résidence de France in Bern. More than 70 Swiss students attended the ceremony as jurors, accompanied by their teachers, including Loris Petris of the University of Neuchâtel and Regina Bollhalder of Università della Svizzera italiana. Also present was Camille Laurens, a member of the Académie Goncourt.

Sarah Jollien-Fardel joins renowned authors such as Mohamed Mbougar Sarr, Lola Lafon, and Louis-Philippe Dalembert, who have won over Swiss students passionate about French literature in previous editions. Sarah Jollien-Fardel will be invited in spring 2023 to meet the student jury that selected her during a public conference.

Among the USI students who participated, one said he was happy to have experienced a unique adventure and enjoyed discovering particular stories and different languages.

Sponsored by the Académie Goncourt, the Choix Goncourt de la Suisse is a project coordinated by the Embassy of France in Switzerland, supported by the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie - Europe de l'Ouest, Payot Libraire, AMOPA - Section de Suisse and the Fondation Catherine Gide.
