In the early 1960s the Soviet architect Konstantin Melnikov, by then already for decades excluded from the profession, humiliated and almost forgotten, created a few architectural fantasies - a dream city filled with his avant-gardist designs of the 1920s and 1930s. He called these artistic drawings, which combined his constructed and unrealized projects, “Melnikov Street”.

This imaginary cityscape became the point of reference for an installation of 22 models made by the Academy’s masters’ students for the monographic course “Konstantin Melnikov: Architect of the Impossible” in spring 2023
