Innovation ecosystem
Universities, institutions, companies, startups, investors, ... An integrated ecosystem is needed to enable innovation: a network of interactions and collaborations between different actors - public and private - that capitalises on all the strengths and skills available in the region, fostering the exchange of experiences, the circulation of ideas and coordinated action.
USI participates and contributes to the Regional Innovation System (RIS) of the Canton of Ticino, one of the regional innovation systems recognised and supported by the Confederation, coordinated by the AGIRE Foundation. At the national level, this regional network with its various actors connects and intertwines with various platforms at the inter-cantonal and national level, in particular Innosuisse, regiosuisse.ch, swissnex and Greater Zurich Area.
Regional Innovation System
This is the structured and articulated innovation system created to network and exploit all existing know-how in the region from academic institutions, private enterprises, trade associations and specialist agencies. Ticino is one of the six Regional Innovation Systems (RIS) recognised and supported by the Confederation.
AGIRE Foundation
The AGIRE Foundation is the Innovation Agency of the Canton of Ticino. It coordinates the Regional Innovation System to foster innovation and technological development of existing economic activities or new startups, contributing to increase regional competitiveness and create highly qualified jobs.
Innosuisse
Innosuisse is the Swiss Agency for the Promotion of Innovation. Its mission is to promote science-based innovation in the interests of the economy and society.
regiosuisse
regiosuisse is the platform for regional development in Switzerland. It supports regional development practitioners by providing a comprehensive knowledge management system that complements their work in promoting and implementing projects and programmes.
Swissnex
Swissnex is the Swiss global network that connects Switzerland and the world in the areas of education, research and innovation. It is an initiative of the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation and is part of the Confederation's foreign network managed by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
Greater Zurich Area
Greater Zurich Area AG (GZA) is the official investment promotion agency for the economic region of Zurich, Switzerland. The Greater Zurich Area brings together a number of cantons, including Ticino.
